Spotted or Florida? I believe spotted due to where they were caught. If only my tank wasn't a 1000 miles away.. Nice tank sized guys

and one that would not be tank sized. In fact this put my aspirations of becoming a gar keeper on hold until I can seriously upgrade my tank size. I know this should be in the fishing section but figured the gar keepers here would appreciate the pics

Some nice looking gars. Where did you catch them?
Was down visiting family just south of Houston. The canals that run through the neighborhoods have them in it.. It was pretty cool as it was all sight fishing. Spot a gar, toss a minnow past it and bring it by its stouts. Would get a hit about 90% of the time, hooking them was a little bit harder. Caught about 12 in two outings. Being Texas these would be Spotted gar I believe.

yes they are spotted!

- definitely spotted gars given locality. that small ones looks pretty unusual compared to the typical SPGs that size. overall those TX-SPGs look quite different than the ones we get up north!--

that small one has a pretty broad snout, isn't it? I've seen a lot of SPG around my area with a broad snout like that, most of SPG I have seen are around 2-3ft.

you should catch and post some good pics of the SPGs in your area...this would help greatly in some research avenues we are working in. will be in touch--
