Was down visiting family just south of Houston. The canals that run through the neighborhoods have them in it.. It was pretty cool as it was all sight fishing. Spot a gar, toss a minnow past it and bring it by its stouts. Would get a hit about 90% of the time, hooking them was a little bit harder. Caught about 12 in two outings. Being Texas these would be Spotted gar I believe. Some nice looking gars. Where did you catch them?

that small one has a pretty broad snout, isn't it? I've seen a lot of SPG around my area with a broad snout like that, most of SPG I have seen are around 2-3ft.- definitely spotted gars given locality. that small ones looks pretty unusual compared to the typical SPGs that size. overall those TX-SPGs look quite different than the ones we get up north!--
