Hello,

Is there anyone who owns or has experience with Spotted Pike Characins (boulengerella maculata) that can help me with the following dilemma:

I've recently purchased two juvie specimens (about 14cm), and I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not they enjoy the powerhead.
When it is on they usually hang underneath/above/beside it, but I don't know if this is voluntary or whether they get 'sucked into it'.
They often get blown away by the current and then try to swim into it, back to being next the the powerhead, which looks quiete akward. Do they enjoy this, or not?
When the powerhead is off, they seem much more laid back, and just hang at the surface of the water, cruising around the whole tank.
Thanx in advance for the advice :headbang2

it seem like they like to swim again that current.

I do know that hujeta "gar" pikes occur and prefer calmer waters, some of the other similar species such as the spotted pike may prefer the same. Especially if they don't park themselves and swim in the flow, that's probably a good hint they don't like it

I've altered the powerhead placement, so there is less flow in their favorite 'chilling area'.

Trying now to get them to accept frozen fishes. I've attached one to a string of fishing line and left it in the current overnight, but no luck so far, so I took it out again this morning. Will try again tomorrow, when they are hopefully more hungry.
