they're pigs pigs pigs pigs pigs nothing you can do about it but reduce the feed everyday if other fish isn't going to be affected as well as other bottomdwellers- and its also more likely you got a female there-
Must be the new food seems she just can't get enough. When it looks like she swallowed a golf ball then she hides for a couple days. (and all this time I been calling her a him)
Umm, I have striped not spotted but they are quite similar as far as I can discern.. I've found they will eat literally as much as I will provide to the point that I had to yell at my husband over feeding them and not telling me because they look like they will EXPLODE at any moment! (was truly worried..)
If I'd let them they'd gorge themselves to death, I swear. They both know the moment food hits the water so I carefully control what they get. Enough for a fat belly, whether that's a few shrimp pellets or a buffet of worms, frozen foods, flakes, whatever, and then they're cut off. One has grown almost 2" in a few months, the other is smaller but doubled in size in the first 2 weeks.
They gorge if you let them. I think I'd agree you were feeding too much.
I have had this little raph for a couple years, and this is a new behavior. Scared me half to death....thought she was gonna POP! Hmm... could it be she is in a new tank with "calmer" mates?
