Saw an add on cl and its called a spotted tiger shovelnose catfish. I wasn't aware that there was one. I've never seen one like this before and was wondering if it's a hybrid or what. Any help?

yea some kind of hybrid like a marbled shovel nose, I have one about the same size paid 10$ at lfs really nice looking catfish and growing fast, but yea it is a hybrid.

The ad wants $30. Is it worth it?

If you have room for a 30" fish sure $30 bones is a good price....I paid $60 for mine back in 09 when they were a bit rarer. Good lookin specimen from the pics, lots of spots.

Thanks been debating if it'll play well with the Pimelodus blochii's and my school of exodons.
exodons would merely b some snacks for him lol... blochii's would prob b fine for a while. whats ur biggest tank for the cat? there usually around 18"-20" in a year.

It will outgrow 135 gal in ~ 6-10 months if exhibits an average growth.

BTW, spotted TSN is P. corruscans, debatably the largest of the TSNs at 5'+. The guys, of course, already have ID'ed yours right. It's a hybrid food catfish man-made in SA.

The larger mine grows, the more I see in it a lack of beauty, grace, streamlines that TSN mother and Marbled Pim father exhibit. It's getting a strange, awkward body shape. It clearly is a man's creation (versus the Lord's creation). Man should not mess with nature.

They are FAR better looking while small...

You are right they do look nicer when small. I'll probably pass on this guy. Don't want my exodons to be its meal.
