Ok so I just did a leak test and all is good on my 493 gal. Now i need some input from you guys as to where the best location for the spray bars i want to make.

Filtration is 1 Eheim 2260 and 1 2262. they will be here by end of next week. I'm waiting till they arrive before i fab together a
hood and make the spray bars.

I was thinking black PVC and individual bars for both filters. Should they be mounted on the top or bottom.. I think if they are on the bottom i would loose some flow rate due to the water pressure.?

Or would just using the Eheim piping be fine.? I want to do this right the first time and not down the road..lol I need some ideas guys. I've searched designs on here but a lot are different.

i put mine on both sides of the tank toward the top for surface agitation and have a powerhead under each bar for mid to low water movement. keeps my water clear :D

id do one near midlevel pointed up and towards the top and one near the botton pointed across the bottom...
the one on the bottom will stir up the bottom in theory pusing everything around till it gets sucked up by the outlets/filtration and the top one will give you good surface agitation..

hahaha shush

uhhhh... as for the spray bars..... stick with whatever size the factory outlets are or bigger.. going smaller could restrict the flow..
as for location... depends on what you want.. i dont think theres a "wrong" answer... going across the back means you will see them more.. going from one/both sides means the middle will be a collection point.... if you keep up with cleanings thats not really an issue.. and you can always add a powerhead or 3 with some sponge filters to help with "dead spots"

gravel vac system with a Diatom

as in something that vacuumes the gravel, filters the water and then puts it back in the tank?

if so... my .02... dont waste yer money... just get a normal gravel vac and make using it part of you weekly/biweekly waterchange... if you want to run a diatom filter for super waterpolishing thats up to you (i dont on any of my tanks and the water is ultra clear on all of them)

But i like wasting money.. lol

True... I could just use the regular vac with water change. But that thing sure looked cool..:D Saves me 180 for something else..

reeeeetaaaaaaainer :D
