I have a lot of PEX pipe left over from when I swapped out lines for my water filtration and then decided to cut out the holding tank. I still need to get that working the way I want it to but I'm curious if I can use this 30ft of PEX pipe instead of going out and buying PVC to make a decent spray bar. The powerheads I have coming are 5/8" ID. I think I would be using 1" PVC pipe to fit onto the outlets. That in mind, I would have to step down to the 3/8" OD PEX and maybe the cost would be the same? I'm curious if the PEX could be useful as nozzles or directional flow to remove dead spots. Has anyone used PEX pipe or slotted PVC to use PEX pipe for directional flow or nozzles? Has anyone used PEX pipe straight off of a powerhead? I'm somewhat concerned about a reduced outlet next to the pump and am unsure if I should do that.

PEX should work just fine if that is what you want to use. The main item to worry about is flow rate vs. inner tubing diameter.
