is the XP3 or fluval's spraybar pointed upward creating surface aggitation enough oxygen for MOST fish tanks?
or do i need much more oxygen using an air pump with it

ok, but does the aggitation create enough oxygen? so would i need a air pump or not?

There are Alot of factors involved here JEAE21 ... What size is the tank, what is the population of the tank.

If you watch your fish you'll be able to see them gasping if there isn't enough Oxy in the tank... it's never really a bad idea to put in an air pump if your worried that they aren't getting enough. Alot of times the agitation is enough to put enough Oxy in the water. But every situation is a little different...

well they're gonna be babies like 4" on average.
in a 55 or 75 gallon tank.(will dump in my dad's tank once they hit close to foot)
2oscars, id shark, columbian shark, pictus catfish, pleco, clown loach, bala shark, silver dollar and a south american gar.
and if possible add these to the list..tinfoil barb, redfin prochilodus, and a banded leoporins.

should i get an air pump?

what about for this tank..
a 125gallon with 2 paroons that are over a foot. and 1 pleco that is over a foot.

An air pump really only helps with surface agitation. The amount of oxygen they add to the water is minimal at best.
The rising bubbles create a small current that helps with gas exchange, but really don't add oxygen.

I use one on a long aireator bar along the back to help with circulaion and to brack the water surface and to help with gas exchange co2 and so on. And good if the filter stops especially with that maney fish.
