spray bar vs single return

which is better? i have the stuff to make a spray bar or i can just leave my regular return outlets...i have 2 returns.....each is from a 500gph pump...if i go spray bar should i do 2 or connect both pumps to one? i have to shut the pumps down anyway because im adding a check valve on each to avoid a big mess. also if i go spray bar how many holes should i do...i'd be using 3/4 pvc.

I converted my old two return system to one single spray bar on one side and love it. I also used 3/4 and did the holes about every inch. My spray goes across the width of the tank at the top but pointed in a downward angle to keep a flow on the bottom off the tank. If you have two pumps you may want to go with one spray bar on each side of the tank.
