Spray Foam!!!

I am planning a 3-D background for a Discus 55gal...

I would like to use a 1in StyroFoam Backer, and design the backround with spray foam
crack filler, then Concrete!! has any one tried spray foam instead of all the mess of shaping and cutting the styro foam...

I used spray foam for the entire thing, no backer. let dry over night. then cut in some caves.
I have no artistic skills, and couldn't carve anything. but it turned out nice.

Does someone have a DIY step by step of how to make these backgrounds?

Did you spray right on the glass? and you concreted it ?

I sprayed right onto the glass.

but I cheated on the finish, and painted it with fibreglass resin and sand for texture.

spayed with enamel paint for colure.


concrete might look even better

I may have went a little over board with the foam.

but I bought 2 large cans of the Mono brand, then found out I needed more so I found a can of Great Stuff brand in my garage, seemed to work the same.

3 large cans for a 180gal. tank
1 gal. of resin

I will dig up the DIY thread i found.

am i allowed to post links to other sites?
