is a spaybar better than a single flow from the outlet pipe ,, ?? i have a spray bar with my eheim 2080 but i dont like it ,, its a bit decorative and i wonder if it actually does anything other than sound like a shower,, also i read somewhere about if you have lids on your tank that you need to leave a certain amount of space between the water level and the lids ,, i have 2 inch space and wondered if it should be more or if its just a old wives tale ??

many thanks everyone

sometimes my water hits my lid.....lol no big deal.....you need a bit of an opening in the lid ALWAYS so the gases can escape, or else they will harm your fish....the spray bar helps distribute the water more evenly throughout the tank thus no dead spots in the water.

I always fill my tank so you can't see the water line anymore, that's about the max I go, I HATE seeing that water line.

i also wonder if there is a reccomended angle of projection for the spray outlet ,, ie straight across, 45 degree downward etc

I use three spray bars (three canisters). I point one slightly up so it creates movement at the surface, the other two I point down to get the water flowing more towards the bottom of the tank. I think that some form of surface agitation is important though.

If you only have one spraybar I would point it on a bit of an angle downwards, this will help water movement.

Howdy,

I have some submerged, pointing up. Others are at surface level pointing to the opposite bottom edge. It's all personal preference. If you have plants try to minimize bubbles as they drive out naturally occurring CO2.

Spray bars are great because you can aim them anywhere. I love them.
