Hi,

I am planning on spraypainting a tank I have to make the shortbody albino senegal's color pop. All I was really wondering was how should I protect the front viewing pane? and also how can I prevent any frmo getting into the tank. The rims are already black so that won't be a problem getting black upon.

Thanks,
now to go use a search engine

I think that's the paint I used -- did mine while empty though...

If you absolutely want to go this route, I would cover everything you don't want painted (especially the inside of the tank!) with a double layer of plastic slip cover and masking tape the heck out of it. You can try to be careful, while spraying, but you don't want to risk any paint getting in the tank.

Instead of painting you could also look at a different kind of background. I've used plastic shower curtains and even gift wrap paper with success.

Good luck!

what should i cover it with paper and tape? and also do i have to layer spraypaint?

im thinking of trying vinyl paper

You can use newspaper or a drop cloth.

I just spray painted my 55 today, and I used the same kind of paint you linked...

Are you painting it full or empty? I would hope empty... If it's empty turn it so that the side it on the ground and go wild. You'll want to put some tape or something on the top so you don't get the other side accidently. And it'll probably need a lot of coats, I brought mine in twice because some light was shinning through.

When I spraypaint the backs of my tanks, I typically wrap the other sides in plastic wrap and seal them off with masking tape. After that, a few coats of flat black Krylon Fusion makes for a nice finish.
