any body feed squid to polys can you feed them the kind from the store that people eat like the hole frozen ones and if so do you clean it the same way or feed it hole
The frozen raw whole squids are fine for feeding to your fish. Pull off the head (the internal organs will follow). Discard ALL internal organs and be careful to not pierce the ink sac. Tentacles are fine as is, just cut them to bite size. Discard the rest of the head (unless your polys are over the 2ft size range). The body is covered with a thin layer filled with chromatophores. Peel this layer off and discard it. Now, the body can be cut to the desired size pieces and fed to your fish.

Oddball, why do we need to peel the chromatophores? I'm asking since I often use squid to feed my polys, aros, knives and cats. I just cut them into bite size pieces, wash the ink off, then feed. Tnx.
It's just a safety precaution I use since toxic elements in the water are more readily absorbed through this layer of skin on squid (mercury, arsenic, cyanide, etc.)
The bulk of any toxic absorption is into the vital organs which are discarded. However, to help reduce the buildup of any trace concentrations in my tanks, the thin outer skin layer is also discarded.
thats what i wasn't sure about was that layer over the meat i can't imagine that it okay to feed them the beak so then if the polys are big you can feed them the hole head with the eyes
thanks for the help
