Inspired by Pufferpunk's recent thread, I've decided to show off my mediocre reef tank, though it is not Monster in any way...

The only fish are two engineer gobies (pholidichthys spp.) that I hope will mate some day... I had a six-line, but he jumped a few days ago. I was missing my pods anyway, copepods and amphipods, particularly gammarids, are crucial components of my cleanup crew.

looking for advice...
I only have a whisper 60 with the new tetra cartridges where you cannot remove the carbon, then phosphate removal pads, and an aqua-clear 20g with a piece of live rock in it, and the four pumps. Whisper filter is also hooked up to a surface skimmer.
Any non-skimmer ideas to improve water quality/cut down on algae?
I feed a capful of DTs once a day or every other day... won't stop that. Love my pods.
Whisper filter also has a busted pump, runs slow but runs regularly, i suppose it gets more contact time with the chemical media anyway.
