or
a pair of 6 inche FMs with 4 platys 4 mollies for live feeders every month

water chang is 2x a week 40 percent to

and what about the 15s? can i have sum swordtails and guppys in there for live feeders?
and in the other 15 use that a a fry and nursry tank?

im leaning toawrds teh FM but want a pair of jewls to tho. so can a pair of 4 inch jewls go in a 15 thats 12 wide 25 long tank = 15 gallons?

Honestly, I have one 2 inch firemouth and one about 3 inch jewel in a 75 gallon and they are the bosses of the tank which also house a 3.5 in. jack dempsey, a 2.5 inch green terror, a 2 inch convict and an adult blood parrot.

I couldn't even add an oscar to the tank because the firemouth and jewel kept pestering it and he was at least an inch or 2 bigger and he would just lie down on the gravel.

In my opinion I wouldn't try it, but if you have more experience with them go right ahead.

A pair of FM will not fit in that 20 gallon. The mollies and platys will just take up the room they most desperately need. The Jewels wont fit because they get just as big as FM. You should really consider Apisto or rams. Possibly some shell-dwellers. You can even use the 15's for a ram and a few neons. That 20 is only big enough for a single FM or con and possibly some dithers such as zebra danios or swordtails. Do what you want but it would be better if you got a bigger tank but I know you can't which really sucks. So best of luck with whatever you decide.

ok so the cichlid forum profle for the jewls are wrong and get to be like 6 inches and not 4 inches? if so then can i get just a pair of jewls in the 20 long and nothin else? and 1 FM for the 15 thats 12 wide 24 long and 18 high?

I know what you mean about FM being asses. That passes though when they get older. I guess it's just teen testosterone LOL.

If your 15s are those demensions than they are 22 gallon tanks not 15. Jewels can get 6 inches but will more likely stay in the 5 inch mark. You can try a jewel pair but IMO not a FM pair. For the 22 gallon tanks do a single FM and a few swordtails and the other do your feeder tank.

dude go with bolivian rams, they are sweet and in a 20 you could fit like 4 or five alone or a pair of rams with your mollies. I have 2 with discus and tetra in a 29 gallon and they are constantly breeding. Plus they carry themselves like any other cichlid, with the gill flaring, face to face stand offs, lip locking and the alternating fin motions, but they never bother other fish. PERFECT for a 20 gallon setup, I gaurantee you will like them they are hardy and good for a beginner, just make sure you get BOLIVIAN RAMS not the german ones, those are much more difficult to care for.

Seriously, if you want mollies in a tank with cichlids get the bolivian ram you won't be disappointed.
