Hi guys, just yesterday, my ST got a serious problem to its jaw. I believe its an dislocation to its jaw.

I have tried shifting it out of water and adjust its jaw back but in vain. I attempted a total of 3 times but i just couldnt get it back to the original position...

Anyone here have an similar experience and can perhaps share with me a solution or remedy for my poor ST. Thanks a million!

Ive had a A.compressiceps do this as bruce said, and a NTT do this also. I didnt try to fix them myself, but they both fixed the problems themselves. In the morning the NTT was back to normal. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

dear terrybear,

how long has this happened? give it a day to two max to try and fix itself, it still bad it will get worse. try supporting your fish on the side of the tank and then use your index finger and insert into its mouth; about a cm or two and move in circles to relax its mouth and possibly fix it. it worked over here twice. good luck.

Well, it happened yesterday morning. So till now, it about 1.5 days. Personally i think it looks abit more serious relative to yesterday condition.

Maybe i tried ur method. I pretty hopeless now. Anyway, do u mean inserting my finger into its mouth and just go in a circle motion? or do i have to actually push hard along the inner circumferences of the mouth? How much force and how long should i do this? Till its back to normal?

Thanks

should be able to adjust it back into position itself.

if its not eating or cannot, let alone try to let it fix itself for the next couple of days, it might not be able to live by then.

your last hope maybe to just do that circlar motion, which depending on your fish size, you can try to stick your finger in about 2 to 3cm and twirl it around, as if giving it a massage to loosen its muscle and hopefully locate its jaw back. massage it at a force to an extent that its head follows your fingers a little do it for about 15 rounds in 15secs. but you must keep the fish firm on the side of the tank and reduce the light to calm it down and keep the stress low.

best of luck.

Sorry to see this bro.

I hope all ends well.

Actually i tried the rotating massgae u mentioned. But everytime i stick my finger slightly in, ST starts to gulp heavily and forefully swim away. I dun even have time to do much rotation.

From wat i observed now. The protuding jaw is getting reddish in colour. I fear for infection. Added melafix and salt. At this rate dun think i can save it.

do u have stingray with the ST? this happened to my arrowana last week, and he got stabbed by the ray on the lower jaw, and the jaw was messed up
