Hi guys,
Finally got my shut together, and got my "big" tank started.
I ordered the tank about 14 weeks ago, and between having the wrong glass brought over from the east ( I opted for starfire on the 3 viewing sides ), and the usual building delays, and of course, I waited till they asked to deliver the tank before I made the stand.
To my defence, I had been planning the stand for the whole 14 weeks, and over-engineering is the word of choice.
The main frame of the stand is built from 75*75*3mm RHS steel, with more than 40 smaller supports in 50*50*3mm RHS. Coming in at about 350kg, it weighted substantially more then the aquarium itself, and even the delivery guys were amazed, which I took as a compliment.
It took just under a week to build, and I was putting the final coats of paint on as the tank arrived. The stande needed 5 people to lift it inside, and I was amazed, the tank was an easy lift for 4 people.
Pics below. (I hope they work)
The tank itself is 2025 * 920 * 750h, 12mm all around, with starfire on the 3 viewing sides.
As you can see, one of the ends goes against the wall, leaving the 2 main and one side viewable as a room divider between the kitchen/dining and lounge areas.
At this stage, it will sit as is untill I get back from holidays over christmas, so watch this space...
I appreciate feedback, and if anyone has some hints and tips on the plumbing / planting side of things, your imput will be gladly received.
