Stab-proof hoodies


THIS is the latest in cutting edge teen fashion — a stab-proof hoodie. The tops will retail at £65 and could soon be part of SCHOOL uniform.
They are lined with Kevlar — the material used in body armour for British troops in Iraq.
The clothing is the brainchild of company bosses Adrian Davis and Barry Samms, who also make protective clothes for police forces and security guards.

The pair — who run the BladeRunner firm in Romford, Essex — believe there is a gap in the market.
Barry, 33, said: “A friend of mine is a police officer in Ilford and he told me that while doing stop and searches on 14 and 15-year-old kids, he’s found they are wearing stab-proof and bullet-proof vests.”
Adrian added: “I’m talking to schools in East London at the moment about putting Kevlar linings in school uniforms. It’s all still in development but we’re at an advanced stage.
“We’ve sent examples of school jumpers to the manufacturers and we’re waiting for the costings. I really believe it’s needed.”
Kevlar is a very light but strong synthetic fibre.
It can be spun into ropes or sheets of fabric five times stronger than steel.
Its fire and knife resistant properties mean it is commonly used in the armed forces’ body armour.
 
WOW, pretty sad really.
 
I saw some guy walking down the street today with a bullet proof vest on. It really suprised me considering I live in a pretty nice area.

Hahahaha. People have been making crap like this on their own for a long time. The drug war has elevated ingenuity in a myriad of ways. Since school shootings have increased the past decade or so it's no wonder they figure let's bulletproof the kids. To be honest, I'm a little surprised nothing like this came about sooner on the commercial level; even regular bullet proof vests.
 
i think that wouldn't work in america, your main weapon of choice for teenagers is guns. In England they use knives. Bring on the stab proof hoodies.

he should say stab resistant, n=more stab resistant than regular clothing
 
kevlar is great stuff
but i didnt know it was good against knives.
 
knife resistant is different than stab proof.And in fact some bullets will penetrate kevlar.
