oh wow thats not good. mine is stable then. Good news. What causes the unstability? and is there a common disease these fish get? say ich or something like that?

Unstability comes with stress, whether it's from moving to another tank, new tankmates, decor rearranging, water parameters, etc. Sometimes, it can last a really long time. I had 6 Dats for a little over a year and one of them was almost never stable.

Honestly, who the hell cares stable or not-stable? As long as your Datnoids are eating well, be happy about it. I hate it when I sell some Datnoids and people ask me if they are stable, etc. It doesn't make any difference because once I put them in a bag or bucket, they will become unstable right away, there is no doubt about that.

The best way to tell is.. If a Datnoid is totally black, most likely that particular Datnoid was stable before and has a good chance of being stable again. If you see a Datnoid that isn't black and you cannot see the bars at all, or if you even see blotches, it might take a while for them to get stable (God knows when).

From my experience, the only ones that stays stable during the move are big ST's/Widebars.

Here is a perfect example of a "Unstable" Datnoid that most likely people will call. I almost guarantee you, this Datnoid will stable up in no time.

Clearly, a lot of members here cares if there Tiger is stable or not, just see the number of threads...

It does make a difference when you sell or buy......some tigers i had go stable once in a net or in a bucket being transferred, but go unstable when in tank. These are the ones i try to avoid when buying.

I look for the ones which are stable before you start putting nets and bags in water.
