stable is a way of saying the fish's color is pretty consistant. a lot of dats stay dark and black looking. a stable dat will have nice goldish yellow base with perfect black verticle lines
just because a tiger you see in a LFS is unstable doesnt mean it will be unstable when you put it in your own tank
some tigers stay stable all the time some will never get stable
its the luck of the draw with tigers i have had a tank full of tigers in the past and wanted to sell one after chasing them around with a net for half hour and caught the one i wanted to sell and put it in the bag it was stable
i then thought i wont sell that now put it back in the tank it was unstable within 2hrs
i have had thin bars in the past that were washed out no stipes at all took them to a shop and they turned real nice and sold within 2hrs as they looked so nice
its very depressing in some ways
