i was thinking of building a double stack 150gal.... can this be done?
i am planning on using all 4x4's for the legs and the frames...
i want to build this project by new year (2010).
still having trouble on planning this out so advice, opinions, even plans to go about this would be greatly appreciated...
THANKS!

Can be done. Search the D.I.Y. section. Tons of good stand builds there with pics.

I've been doing some research on this also, and I have read it can be done but no pics!

Does anyone have pics of their double stacks for a 150?
Or even there 125?

Quick thought don't use 4x4s go with 2 2x4s screwed together or 2x6's 4x4's are prone to warping and twisting and are usually preasure treated.

Make the vertical supports pretty beefy and then use a 2x6 for the horizontal part that the upper tank rests on. That way it shouldn't bow and you can avoid using a center column.

It can most definitely be done. I had a 125 about 56" in the air, just never bothered installing a tank beneath it. I was going to, just didn't.

Use the same basic design as every other stand build.

Should look something like this;
