I have staghorn, and I'm confused as to why I have it.
My params are fine, my light is underpar though. I do leave the light on almost all day, 7AM - 6PM, cant help it I have practice. And my tank is next to a window, but the blinds and curtain let barely any light through.

I'm about to put in some DIY co2, and probably upgrade the lighting

Would upgrading my lights and adding DIY co2 help a lot?

What should I do?

if you upgrade your light co2 will most likly be a must. it is all a balance with light co2 and fertz more light means more of the others. i would start with diy co2 with your light co2 will help grows alot even in very low light situations.

with your algea if i remember right staghorn thrives in the same conditions as plants so it is hard to remove completly. but manual removal is almost always the best bet with algea....atleast for starters doing a google search maybe more helpful on this specific algea. sorry i couldnt be of more help.

Thanks, thats what I was thinking, but wasn't sure.
I'll do the DIY co2 to see if my vals and sword can out compete the staghorn.
Hopefully a shop light can be my Christmas present : /
