Hi I got a friend who needs help he got a wooden stand supporting his 300 GL tank it seem it bowed a little in the middle beacuse of the sliders he used on the sides of the stand he forgot to put one in the middle so when he put water the middle part of the stand had a little space between the tank and the stand would it be a problem?

This is far from an ideal situation. especially on a glass tank. If it was me...I'd make a brace for the middle of the stand and use a hydrolic jack to force the center up and slip the brace in place. Shims would be a very poor fix for a problem like this as they would still cause high spots and pressure points on the bottom of the tank.

My stand sagged in the middle the same way on my 75G. I have foam under the tank and you can see how the foam has compressed > 50% on the ends.

Looks like a poorly designed stand. The tanks weight needs to be distributed throughout the perimeter of the aquarium base. some of the larger tanks also have plastic braces that run front to back on the bottom of the tank, these also need support. As it sits right now that tank is being supported only by the left side and right side. The front and rear glass is keeping it all together, eventually the silicone will fail at the seams or worse, the glass will crack.

I would suggest doing what Wolf reccomended as a quick solution, perhaps permanent IF you do it correctly. However the way I would go about it would be drain the tank and remove it from the stand in order to rebuild it properly. I'm willing to bet that if the center brace was "forgotten" that there are potentially other issues with this stand that should be addressed.

I've have a similar situation with my 75g Oceanic glass setup, very small gap (1/8") running lengthways on the front.

I spoke with a technical lead at Oceanic (and advice from Chompers), and he reassured me that as long as the tank was level, stand was flush with the ground, and all 4 corners were making contact that this is acceptable. He mentioned that the corners take 80% of the load.

But knowing the weight differences between a 75 and a 300, your situation is likely different than mine....

My sister gave me her 75G tank and stand a few weeks ago. When I went to pick it up; I was surprised the tank stand had not colapsed after 10 years. She said a friend originally gave her a 55G tank and this stand. When she replaced the 55G with the 75G her boyfriend added the 6" extension.

I took pictures of the stand before I destroyed it. It looks like the tank was supported on all four corners and nowhere else. After I built a new stand and filled up the tank; humidity had formed in the seams and I can see that the entire length of the front two seams were compromised. The silicon had pulled back about halfway leaving only an 1/8th bead the entire length. I have fish in the tank but I don't feel confortable with the seams. The only thing that keeps me from draining it is that it survived 10 years being supported by the corners only.

You really need to get a brace in the middle of that stand !!!!! I can see a blow out in your future if you don't..... Like Wolf3101 said get a jack raise the middle until it touches the tank then make a brace to fit....

i had that happen on a table i had a tank on. i went to a diy store and bout a $10 pick axe handle, cut is to size. emptied 80% of the water to lighten the tank, pushed the table top up till it was 99% level again and wedged the cut axe handle in there and refilled. been working great for me. no more sagging
