so i got a table that has 8 legs on 25 in wide but only 5 ft long. i am going to add some 4x4s for extra support but my question is do u guys think its alright if the tank over hangs on the edges by a few inches? thanks for the help

Wouldnt be a good idea. Usually you want the tank completely centered, with nothing hanging over.

its literally 3-4 inches on both sides could it matter that much?

180 gallons of water is alot of water... Why not just do home made stand?

All sides need to be supported. There's over 1500 lbs. of water in a 180. Support the whole thing, otherwise, two words : CRACK!, WHOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!
