stand is 22 inches in height and 52 inches in length. I need to know if i should put in a middle brace or not if i could get away with only a middle brace in the back so the front could stay open.

i built a similar 1 with a brace in the back middle and front open...ur stand looks good to me...good job:clap

Alot of people just use 2X4 for the general framing; with what you've used, I think you'll be amply strong enough to support a 75 gallon with just the rear brace. You won't have any lateral shearing or tension with the weight you intend to support, and the frame you've already chosen. You'll be fine.

That stand of far beyond beastly. Adding any more wood would be a colossal waste of money and time.

Most stands here would hold a car, this one will hold a battalion of m1a1 tanks.

That will do it.

I would leave it as is. I can't think of a single time I have put vertical supports on a 4' stand.

I built the stand for my 55 out of 3/4 plywood with no framing. I can jump on it (I weigh about 250) and it doesn't shake, shimmy bow or give. I can't imagine how much weight your stand would hold.

Nice display of carpentry skills.

I made something similar for mine when I was a kid. Had to get help to move it into my bedroom.
Next time your at your LFS check out the stands they sell they are made very cheap and flimsy. They make them from press board and pine stapled together.

Thanks for the help everyone. Im not sure if this 3/4" x 12" boards would be ok for the top? Id hate to waste money on plywood if not i could use the 2" x 12" pt I used on my last stand.
