I picked up an old 75 gal TruVu for 40 bucks I want to use as a discus grow out down the line. I had planned on sitting on it for a year, but now that I've got it my head's buzzing.... don't know how long I can last.

It's a 60 by 18 by 16 tank. I'm thinking about making it a bit taller, say 42-46 inch range with an open span under the front edge so there's a possibility of sliding a 55 under there in the future. Would 2 by 6 lumber with a vertical brace in the middle of the back be adequate? I'm assuming 2 by 4s might be a little iffy, at least on the one long span?

Thanks for any input.

Steve

75 gallons is not alot of weight in fish tank terms, I built a stand for a 300 with just a center brace, its 8' long but I used a 2X12 in the center with the 2 2X6 legs behind it. I don't see why you would have any problems
