ok so i decided to build a stand for a 75 gallon tank (48x18). i wanted it to be a little taller so that i could see into the tank better without having to break my back to bend over so i went with 35inches tall. well now that i have the 2x4 frame done, i'm wonding if its going to be too top heavy and make it unstable. when i started i was thinkin that the 18 inch width would keep it stable, but now not real sure. you guys think it will be ok? i rent so i can't really hook it to the wall but def don't want it tipping over as my kids run by either

35 views and not a single opinion? cmon ppl i kno someone has some type of input on this. i have been looking through all the threads and while i have seen a lot of stands for 75/90 gallon most don't list heights so they haven't been much help. the wife wants this thing done so probably looking to skin it this weekend so any mods need to be done soon if they are going to happen.

U could always put a bracket holding it to a supporting wall. For piece of mind. Surely it wouldnt b that bad

Find the studs in the wall. Run a 2x4 horizontal on the wall behind the tank. Get 2- 4" wood screws and fasten the 2x4 to the wall. Then fasten stand somehow to the 2x4. When you move you will have 2 small holes to spackle. Lanlord will never notice. I did this to both of my kids tanks because I was worried when they were small. It works fine

ya thats def not a bad idea. i put the empty tank on the unfinished stand just to see how it looks and feels being up high and altho i can pull it over, i'm thinking when its full of water it won't be that bad. i'm still thinkin i might try to find a way to anchor it somehow, but don't think its so bad that i have to be careful just walking by it

I had a 150g 72x18" tank on a 38" stand. Not a wobble when full.

Wont be an issue. Just make sure its level. I prefer high stands.
