my stand keeps making weird clicks or cracks I'm thinking this is because of temperature change or somthing , but it's one of those l fake wood ones you buy from petsmart and I really don't want it to break ......the thought of the tank crashing to the ground makes me cringe lol , Is there anyway I can strengthen the stand with like carpenter's glue or somthing and if so how do I do it or should I go on a hunt for a metal stand?

pretty sure it's not like a cracking noise but little "ticks" is how I would describe it , .... it doesn't seem to be or anything...... how long do these kind of stands last for?

is it wet or has it recently been wet?

are you sure its not the heater clicking against the glass or something in the impeller on the filter?

do you by chance have any loaches in the tank?

no loaches . it would make sense that it's the heater because it started last week about the time that I got it. and I make sure to always wipe up water that gets on the stand, but it's possible my oscar could be splashing a bit out while I'm not there.. but I doubt that.

You could try some 2x4 to reinforce the stand. 2x4 are really cheap at HomeDepot. 1.50 for 8 ft.
i am taking down my 120 in about a week and i will be going to home depot for some 2x4's. 4 for the corners and one in the middle back side.

i have one of those cheap wood ones too. i think its put together with all staples:screwy:. either way i wanted to add 2 doors at the end that alone was the reason i am strenthening it.

just going out on a limb here, but i would bet my paycheck its your heater turning on and off....you just didnt notice it till now....mine clicks on and off and i didnt start hearing it until i saw the orange lights turning on and off

I just realized this morning it was my heater lol. the sound goes away when ever it's off

It's the thermostat, and can be VERY annoying... I moved to jager heaters so that I would not have to hear it anymore... Oh and, well, there is also that better quality glass and time proven reliability.
