I was just wondering if it would be cheaper to buy a stand for a 55 or to build a DIY?

thanks, i was just wondering because there are not too many aquarium setups for sale in the classifieds and such around here. Tomorrow,I am checking up on a 55, stand, pump, hood, heater, etc for 75 bucks. If that doesn't work out then im prolly just gonna buy a 55 and make my own stand.

The last time I was in Petco or Petsmart, the cheapest stand they had was $100 and that was for a 20 or 10 gallon tank. Stands for 55's were at least $180.

Give building it a try. Even if you "f" up the first one, you'll learn from your mistakes and still come out cheaper in the long run. There's a bunch of DIY plans all over the interweb (including here with a quick search) that are more than easy enough to do. Good luck.

yeah youll save a ton of $$ building a stand, i built the stand for my 75 for about 50$ when they retail for 150-200

I enjoy building my own stands. Even if it ends up costing the same as the ones in the pet store, it will be much more stable and made with better materials. And, you can make it look exactly how you want it to look.

Well turns out that im not gonna be getting the $75 55 setup. So i am gonna look around for another week or two and if nothing shows up them im just gonna buy a regular price:( 55 setup and build my own stand.
