hi all i am in the design stage for a tank i plan on building in the semi near future. i will be building a 150 gallon plywood tank that will have the sump integrated into the back of the tank. this tank will be going in my bedroom and i plan on making the stand double as a dresser. the dimensions of the tank will be 31 inches wide 57 inches long and 30 inches tall including the hood. the stand/dresser will be 31 inches tall. i plan on incoperating 6 drawers 3 on each side of the stand. the stand its self will be made from 2x4's what so you think of my idea? here are some pics of it. the drawers have been removed for clearity. the top will be a layer of 3/4 inch plywood and the sides and front will be skinned with 1/4 inch plywood. so what do you think?

It looks good and like it'll be sturdy. I actually use a small dresser for my 20 gal. I'm gonna need to replace it later cuz the dresser isnt that well of quality.lol...hopefully it doesnt break in the time being.lol

I find it amusing that I found this post, because I've currently got my 125g (72"x18") on a 6 drawer dresser, exactly as you've planned out here :)
It's a shame it's not wide enough and we're miles apart, because I'm looking to build another stand and get rid of this one :P

Good luck to you all the same, and post pictures when you finish :)!

I have my frame for that set up now myself. Moving into a smaller apartment and figure the stand doubling as a dresser will work. I will try to post once it is done. As of now it is a standard 2x4 frame.

How will you integrate sump into back ? Will it also be on top of the stand like two tanks side by side ?

well guys this tank has evolved a bit from when i originally started this thread. my wife decided that if i am going to build it i should make it as big as we have room for. so i got permission to build a 300 gallon tank measuring 72" long 36" wide and 30" tall

the stand is30 inches tall and will still be made from 2x4's but will have three sets of 3 drawers. also the sump will be in the stand. here are a couple pics of the new stand and tank. what do you think?

the interior walls are going to be removable so that i can gain access to the sump they are there to try and reduce the humidity on the dresser side of the stand. my plan is to make a frame that the walls set in that will have a silicone seal
