can I place a 55g on a sturdy table or dresser or would you recomend getting a stand?

It depends on which table or dresser you chose. It's doable, but it has to be strong.

i agree i had a 55 on my drsser look at bracing on then of course take some pics so we could see bracing to insure you and of course a few of your fihs too lol

i need to take a pic. but i have my 75 gallon on a coffee table..

I use the term coffee table widely.. the table looks like it was built to go in a mead hall, and I tested it for 6 weeks to hold about 1100 pounds..to be on the absolute safe side

depends on what you call sturdy. But yea its do-able, gots exp. But i would def stear away from a rickety ole dresser.

just make one out of a couple 2 by fow's, lol

thanks for the advice eveyone , I think i'm going to find a table or dresser and put about 400 pounds on it for a few days to see if it will hold.
