Hi Everyone
I've been reading the posts on the failure rate of the Stealth Visitherm Heaters and was wondering if anyone else was experiencing problems with the Standard Visitherm Heaters? I've had three of these heaters fail in the last 8 months. We narrowly avoided a disater today in our Angelfish/Severum Tank. Normally this tank is maintained around 80.5 degrees. When we came down to start the weekly water change we noticed that the water felt VERY COLD. We checked the temp and it was at 71 degrees and falling. The heater in the tank had the light on, but the unit was cold to the touch. The heater was running in this tank since Thanksgiving Weekend. This is the third heater of this brand to fail. All were new and worked anywhere from one to three months before dying. I've had one 75 watt fail, one 125 wall fail and one 400 watt fail. I've used this brand for over 12 years and have never experienced a cascading failure like this before. It has shattered my faith in this brand and have we have purchased Ehiem/Jager Heaters to replace all of them in our tanks. One heater failure can be chalked up to a bad part and a once in a blue moon occurrance. Three failures, back to back, of different wattages in different tanks is no longer chance. Best of luck to anyone who is still running these heaters without issue.
