Im in the middle of making a standpipe (slip on style) I have two hole drilled in my overflow box. one is 1.5in and the other is 2.5inch i also have a 1.5 hole drilled on the top part of the brace. So can i make the Standpipe bigger and return the water from a smaller size line? Like make the standpipe 2inch going into the 2.5 hole and then pumping back out? This will give me more volume to my sump right? Instead of the 1.5 hole?

I went to the LFS this weekend and they told me everything i needed and what to do... they said make my stand pipe out of the 2.5 hole and have the return out of the smaller 1.5 to the 1.5 in the side of the overflow box. Should the stand pipe be that big? or should it be just smaller size.
