Hey guys, I need to ID this guy and get some info on him asap so I have a good idea of what I got on my hands and what I need to do with it.

Basically.... the bf found it in his bait bucket that he brought home (dunno if its from tampa bay or from the bait store, thinking the bait store.) and it managed to "find its way" into my tank... so I either have a new pet.. or something that I need to get rid of... not sure yet.

We are thinking its just a common fl seastar? but an ID and information would be awesome!

I have no idea, that being said, I would let it go till I noticed something was wrong.

Its small.

Do you have any corals or high end inverts that you might lose from a predator?

I have coral but they are all pretty large compared to that starfish. The only invert at the moment I would even slightly worry about are the nassarius (sp) snails. Turns out I also have a second starfish.... I cant find it right now, but it's different than the one the bf found and I think it hitch hiked with my new coral that I just bought. I figure it worse comes to worse there are plenty of places here I can take them to.

it seems like a native species of Echinaster. they are generally safe wirh corals, sometimes they may consume sponges and other small sessile inverts.

I'm not sure on the ID, but if you have sensile inverts (such as clams and scalops) I would be careful, as Stars are known for litteraly cracking them open and eating them.
