Stargazer advice?

Just got a 2" stargazer, really great little fish. It's in a 55 corner tank with a sand substrate.i don't know if he is eating, lots of small grass shrimp and baitfish. I should probably take them out so I can see him eat. I don't see anyone who talks about success with these fish, please any advice would help. Sorry for the bad picture.

Give its sometime and soon all the shrimp and other fishes will be gone. You will need a thick sand substrate so the fish can burrow for its static ambush its prey.

Yeah I'm trying to be patient. I think some fish were eaten. It's very hard to find when hidden.
