I was looking at Glasscages.com just for the heck of it and i came across the starphire glass advertisement type thing.

Well i searched for "starphire glass" on google and i found this site:

http://www.reefland.com/forum/reef-archives/3153-pics-ninong-s-starphire-glass-tank-canada-eh.html

The glass on this guys tank is so clear its insane.

If it would stay this clear, i would gladly pay the extra $150 to get it on the front of a future 180.

I showed it to my dad (contractor) and he got really interested in it. I asked if he thought it was worth the money, and he said that it most likely wouldn't stay that clear long term with water in it.

So does anyone have side by side shots with tanks made of low iron and standard glass of the same ages, same light etc. for comparison?

Thanks, and sorry for the novel

Will

I have never owned a starfire tank but my friend had a 90 gallon reef that was setup for 5 years. The tank is now taken down and even sitting in his garage the front starfire is still very clear and looks better than the rest of the non starfire glass.

Oh yea what 4 wheeler is in your avatar? I have a couple Brute Force's.

Its a Recon 250. :) Honda's the only way to go buddy. ;)
Haha, but seriously, Kawasaki would be my second choice, my cousin has a Bayou, and its nice, almost as nice as the Recon. :headbang2

No pic's w/o water but I seen pic of his tank when it was setup and it was really nice.

Oh my Brutes are a 750 (w/ a 900cc big bore) and a 650 I will be selling them on Ebay in a month =(

well worth the money if you can afford it....

Sweet allah! Thats craziness. How is it controlling those monsters (specifically the 900) in 4wd?

The largest i've driven was a 650 that was a custom job, but it had what the guy called "assist steering" which was kinda like watered down power steering, and i didn't use the 4wd.

What experience do you have with it? (not trying to be ignorant or anything)

Was just looking at one of these yesterday...Awesome clarity and a noticeable difference in my opinion. It was a 60 gallon and I saw clearly through the thickness of the glass from one front end to the other, the entire length of the tank and on to other things in the room! It was amazing...never seen anything like it. Oceanic sells tanks with starphire now.

Starfire glass stays clear because it doesn't have the Fe ions in it.

I have a 360g that is 20ish years old. It is still clear.
