After being extremely interested in natives and studying as much as I can, I finally got some bluegills. I currently have a 125 gallon stocked with a purple-spotted gudgeon around 3", a sveni pike cichlid around 3", a Florida bullhead (awesome black and white speckled) around 2", and an eclipse/sun catfish around 4". I collected 6 bluegill, 2 of which are 2.5-3", and the others all under an inch. When I released them, the pike hit one of the small ones immediately and swallowed him. I had even done a heavy feeding before adding them in hopes of delaying that. Putting such small ones in, I knew they'd be fish food, but I didn't expect immediate response as I've never fed live fish. I have only seen two of the other small ones so the third was likely eaten too. The two larger juvies are timid but have calmed and appear to be doing well. I'm excited to stock other sunnies soon.
