I just started my new cichlid tank with 5 eureka reds. They are about an inch big and they seem to be doing well. a little skittish but thats ok. Now I am looking for some more fish to put in there with them. But I am a little confused on what I can or cant put with them. I really like the Aulonocara: maulana, stuartgranti, and baenschi but isnt it true that you can only have one aulonocara per tank otherwise they will interbreed?

Ok, so now I need to look up how to tell the male and females apart... they will start breeding when they get around 3-4" right?

Don't get rid of them until they become adults. Males will have the nice colors, females won't have any.

If you have an extra tank I would put the first male that colors up in there. Then the next dominate will color up and repeat the process. You should be left with females in the end.

Keep in mind, the most aggressive one may not always be a male. Good luck!
