I am getting ready to get a 55gallon salt water tank i already know that i have to cycle it for about a month with live sand and rock for like a month before puting fishies in it. What would be some good starter fish that look cool besides like clownfish, i would really like a lion fish or a snowflake eel but idk if they would be good for me with my limited knowledge of salt water

he's got it some clowns are hardy but not with the stock you want

well a lion-fish wouldn't be the best for a new setup it can be kept but depending on species ur looking to buy there hardness will vary along with size of tank. A great key to having hardy fish is to be as educated on the fish or inverts, etc... that you would like to keep I have done research on every fish I have before I buy it and learned all the water chemistry to a "T". If you just put 30 minutes to learning about the fish u desire hardness won't matter cause you will know the husbandry required to keep them and keep them healthy and feed.

i think eels are great.... but get a snowflake only. anything else will grow out of a 55 in a matter of weeks.

Well that is perfect, because that was the kind of eel i was looking at :D Would I be able to keep the lionfish in the tank with the snowflake? I'm asking because I have seen it before on youtube.

There are species that are more suitable for a 55 gallon. Snowflakes will eventually need a 75. the volitan Lionfish will get as big as a basketball

90% of people do things wrong on youtube.

But yes you can keep a lionfish and snowflake together. They will need tanks big enough to house them though,
