Hi
I just got a new tank and I am trying out low tech for the first time.
The tank is 120 cm deep, 67x62 cm wide. 500 litres, or 132g. My plan is to do this without circulation because of the shape of this thing.
I put a layer of soil, about 4cm deep and sprinkled with mixed aquarium gravel to make it stay put. I got hold of a mixture of plants of which I do not know the name, and in a few min when its all filled up the waiting begins.
It has access to sunlight the whole day, but only direct sunlight a few hours in the evening. For additional lighting I have two fluorescent low energy lights, output should be about 76 wats, 2600k.
Does anyone have any experience with deep low tech tanks or do you have any experiences to share? Im new to this and tho I've learnt the basics from the Walstad method-book I don't know how to spot dangers and if so, adjust the tank setup.
