So I am new to the forum but there seems to be tons of info here. I bought a used 300 gal tank it needed to be buffed out real bad, so I did that it was a lot of work but the tank looks good now. I am planing on using a 55gal tank as my wet dry filter I am not sure the size pump to use or what a good brand of pump even is. The tank has 5 holes in the bottom 1 on each side 1 1/4in the will take 1/2 pipe with the bulkhead. the 3 down the middle that are 1 1/2 will take a 3/4 in pipe after I install the bulkheads. My plan is to make the two 1/2 pipes be my over flow and one of the 3/4in to be my return What do you guys think? one of the other 3/4 will be set at 75% of the water level for easy water changes . I am not sure what I will use the other hole yet. I am planing on this being a planted community lots of small fish a few angles and maybe a few discus. Most likely I am going to use pool fitter sand as the substrate. Any info you guys have would be great.
