Hey guys my uncle is starting his 90 gal tank conversion into salt water. He is in the middle of cycling the water and we're trying to comprise a list of semi-agressive five that we can put into a community....He specifically does not want anything that will out grow the tank. We had in mind so far,

long spinny puffer or a stars and stripes puffer
picaso trigger
possibly a eel of some sort

Any suggestions from those very fimiliar with the salt water side of the hobby? Also how many pounds of live rock do i need for the 90gal

What are the dimensions of the tank? The trigger might get abit big for it and depending on what exact species of spikey puffer it might get to big too. Its also abit of a worry mixing puffers or triggers with eels as some of them like to nip at the eels tail. I personally have kept an eel and trigger together though and that worked well so it can be done.
I dont know about pounds but ide say you would need atleast 20-30 kgs of rock more if you want to make it look good and have a good hiding spot for the eel.

you could maybe get away with a snowflake moray or maybe a picasso trigger and maybe a third but if youre going with fish that big, id try not to go more than three. five is pushing it. id get around 90lbs of live rock but remember that offsets the water so youll no longer even have 90gallons. lots of pvc pipe is good for an eel and can be hidden behind live rock so consider that. if you wanted to have a few more fish go with smaller guys like a valentini puffer, a fumanchu lion, maroon clown, a dwarf angel, stuff like that. theyll get decent sized (4-6inches) and will be aggressive enough to keep things interesting without killing eachother. hope that helps.

Forget the puffers. The two you mentioned get 24 inches long. Some of the triggers get over 12inches long. your tank is 48inches long and 18inches deep. You could try dwarf fuzzy lion fish, with a niger trigger. Or something like this.
