Hey guys, so I need to find a decent air pump that is pretty quiet. Right now I need it to run sponge filters in (6) 5 1/2 gallons, (5) 10 gallons, (1) 20 gallon, and (1) 40 gallon. In the future I will have a second rack with more tanks. But for now that is the setup I am needing to run air to. However, if the price difference isn't too big then I would like a pump that can run about 30 tanks. I am looking for something I can wire into some PVC and run across my rack with airline placed accordingly on the PVC.

Also, This will be in the house for a few months so I prefer something on the quiet side.

What are you guys using for your fish rooms?

My preferred price range is under $150, $200 max.

Thanks!

Hey Matt- When do you think you will be buying the pump? I would love to hear what you think about them. The reviews I found were on a few pond websites and everyone seemed to swear by them. I would expect them to be good because they are pretty expensive.

Make sure you check out Jehmco. They sell a lot of different pumps. Some of them are relabeled with the Jehmco name, but are manufactured by some of the big players and are pretty good quality.

Alita AL40 = 36db
MEDO LA-45B = 38db

I think these models would cover your needs and are pretty quiet (38 decibels is pretty good), but I'm no expert. These were the two I was looking at, but I might actually go with the smaller model.

Giving Jehmco a call is also a good idea. If anything, talk to the sales guy and tell him what you are trying to accomplish and they should be able to steer you in the right direction. I spoke with him a few months ago and he seemed really knowledgable. In regards to the rebranded pumps, if noise level is a priority, make sure to ask him about the decibel rating...I'm sure you know, but some pumps are "drive you insane" loud.

Good luck!
