So I have a question. I’m restarting my 180 gallon tank and would like some thoughts on the amount of fish I’m planning on adding. I want to know purely from a bio load standpoint. I realize some of these fish may not get along together forever in the tank and some may have to be rehoused but this is not an issue as I have MANY tanks I can move them to in case of conflict. So he’s my plan on the types of fish

1 possibly 2 Oscar’s
1 black ghost knife fish
4 Blue Acaras
5 pictus Catfish
1 Ornate Bichir
1 Senegal Bichir

I think it's fine... but it all come down to the type of filtration you run, the amount of biological media you're using and then you're maintenance (water changes) and feeding schedules.

I think you will be having trouble with keeping the water clean, given that amount of fish in one tank. Oscars especially are very messy and get large, while needing very clean water (NO3 of <5 ppm).
Not a cichlid keeper so I'll let the actual cichlid keepers elaborate on that, but it is what I have seen from many posts on here.

That's a lot of fish for a 180g. If you can't do more than 50% water changes everyday when full grown (in 1-2 years) then you will have to move them. The 2 oscars and ornate will dictate who is left alive in that tank. For the next 10 years of more, the 2 oscars will easy fill that tank. Squeezing in the ornate (for the next 10 years+) will just mean more than once a week water changes.
