A friend of mines wants to set up a planted setup in maybe a 5-10 gallon tank, but he's never tried it before.
What are some things he needs to know to start? What kind of substrate should he use? Soil? Sand? Both? And what kinds of plants would be best?
He wants the whole bottom covered with plants, or I guess something like grass, and he wants to do a simple shrimp/neon tetra tank. Thanks in advance.
