i have a 30 long that im not using and since the fiance likes my brichardi i decided to make the 30 a grow out tank for tanganyikans.

i was wondering if i should buy the "african gravel" that my lfs sells or would just black gravel work

also do they like slate more or smoother stones

finally im trading in some of my other fish in my main tank to stock the 30 gallon and i was wondering what is a good number of fish to have in the 30

from my lfs i can get brichardi, tropheus moori, frontosas, firecracker/Sp Red Moliro, duboisi etc for my fish .... what can i grow out and later sell and what coul live there for life? all the fish above are 1 inch to 2 inches

its not a permanent tank ... its a growout for fish im getting through trade :P

Not good for a grow out either. Tropheus are best kept in colonies of at least 20, 20+ preferably. The minimum size for a grow out tank is 75gal (4' long tank).

LOL!!! I was about to type the same n i saw your post....

x3 lol :D

i use 29 longs to grow out my lelupi, brichardi ,marlei ,bourglei, regani buffalo heads, shell dwellers and calvus but i start to get rid of them when they are 1/2 inch .they go like hotcakes .so it depends on how long your going to grow them out before you can get rid of them!
