Well, after having had to move... twice, and having had sold my big tanks over a year ago I'm finally ready to set up another saltwater fish tank.
Here's what I want...
Fairly basic FOWLR setup, but I want agressive/predatory fish. (Lions, Eels, Wrasse, Etc)
Currently, I am still working on prettying up the stand for the tank, I had recieved a leaky 125gal which I resealed and the leak-test passed. There is still quite a bit of time before I am even ready to stock this tank so I'm trying to figure out the best possible mix of fish.
I currently have a very stunted 7" spotted grouper in a 75gal who I recieved for free from a lady on Craigslist who had been keeping the fish in a 37gallon bowfront tank... for the past 2 years, needless to say he looks a lot more comfortable in the 75gal and I hope to put him in the 135 once it's up and running. I also have a fuzzy dwarf lion, but can rehome him if my stocking conflicts with that. i was thinking a region-specific tank might be neat. Any ideas?

As far as region specific...I guess you could just look on sites like fosters that tell you where your fish is being collected from.

A 125g is an okay tank...but really not big enough for most FOWLR fish in my mind. You could do a medium sized angels, and some medium sized tangs though. It is also an okay triggerfish tank.

About the minimum size for any lionfish in my mind as well.

There are possibilities, but I always like more fish rather than a few larger fish...but that is just me.

I never know how to respond to these open-ended stocking threads ha

90% of what you see available is indo pacific. Name a fish, it is prolly indo pacific.

Your best bet is to go to www.liveaquaria.com they have a large selection of fish, and you can see where all of the fish you like are collected for your "region specific" tank.

Eccept for a couple of the wrasses I was looking at apparently. Ah well.

I do know for sure that I really just want a few big flashy fish instead of a bunch of little fish. I prefer predatory/agressive highly responsive fish.

Anyone know some "smart" SW fish that would be suited to a tank of this size? I'm looking for something that will swim right up to you to say "hi" and beg for food.

Lions. Puffers. Groupers to a certain extent, but they are such born and bred ambush predators that most of the time they are hesitant to leave the rock work if provided with appropriate cover.

In the wild, a baby grouper picks a cave. It eats everything inside the cave, and waits for everything else that comes into that cave. Very little live outside of that.

red flag grouper, dog face puffer, wolf eel, red coris wrasse, Blotched Anthias some semi aggressive to aggressive ideas from the indo region.
