well,
I have a 100 gallon and I have been searching around and I see people only putting upto 8 in a 100 gallon. I was wondering if 15 pygos would live in a 100 gallon. I dont mind having little space but I want a crowded setup because of feeding time. I also have a wet and dry like 2x2x2.5 and I will be running that with a rio 1400 hyperflow. Is that enough filtration for the tank? I will also add an aquaclear 110 but wont be running it unless it get bads.

when those pygos approach adult size you'd have to be doing like 2 90% water changes every week, regardless of how good your filtration may or may not be, to keep the nitrates and DOCS down to reasonable levels. There's no telling how bad the cannibalism in such a crowded tank might be, as well.

Start withe the 15 at 2" ea but expect to have about 10 by the time they reach 6", they don't take overcrowding very well and it takes one nip to ring the dinner bell.

yeah I thought some one will say 5 because its so small. I might just get two red bellys a caribe and a ternetzi and piraya. well thanks everyone. I might just upgrade to a 150

15 may be too many. Of course what size are you buying them at? Average adult size (5-8 in) is too many. I could see getting some younger ones and growing them to the tank so they become used to the close quarters. Idealy you want around 5 or 6 in the 100. 15 you will have to do waterchanges at least every other day.

You're 100 gal tank is probably about 5' x 18" x 24". For red-bellies, I'd stay with 4. Depending on what you feed them is more important than how much you feed them. My advice is to keep fresh food with your reds until the food is gone. Mix the diet, shad, bluegills, crayfish. Alternate with night-crawlers and peeled shrimp. You will find many different opinions. Key word is OPINIONS. I have a 249 gal tank. I kept 8 reds. After about 1 1/2 yrs, my biggest was Boss Hogg. Measured a little over 12 1/2 L and 1 1/4 lbs. The smallest was 10"+.
