K i just bought 3 convicts (thats all i could afford) lol not sure of the males or females yet so i put them in so far they are swimming around i put a few bloodworms in and they all 3 are eating what signs should i look for of pairing up, 2 of them swim on one side of the tank and somtimes 1 chases the others around but none have both swam into a pot together so is this gonna take a little longer than expected whats the longest it could take to notice a pair ?

it might take a week or two. the define colors mean that there prob about to. orange on the bellies mean that its a female and the longer pointed tip fins are the males.

well i left them alll in for a few mins then after awhile i noticed one was getting bullied the worst so i took him out and moved him into his own tank and now the other two look fine they just chase after each other every now and then but no one is dead or injured so i guess they have paired up possibly?

i must have some transexual convicts then i got rid of all of my convicts (had 50+) and kept 2 albino males i thought but they have really bright oarange scales on their bellies
is that right?

if you've hooked up a pair, their behaviour will turn more towards "teamwork" on a daily basis. digging pits together, shacking up at night, definite physical signals passed back and forth, are just some of the other things you might notice before eggs are present.

for visual markers between m/f convicts, check the huge amount of threads already available. it's been covered 10x over. good luck

hey crazy. were your "trannies" still real small juvies when you sexed them? the inchers can be difficult to call.
