I am trying to start a home based fish business. Does anyone have any advice that could help me along the way. I am just waiting for the zoning to go through. Any advice will be appreciated.

what does this mean? please try again.....

The most important thing right now is if you have any fish that you shouldn't have, you need to get rid of them before you file any applications. You can be inspected at any time, and F&G does make inspections. They don't just inspect your garage tanks, they will go through the whole house and inspect every room.

Next, be well versed in shipping. Some airlines require an inspection of your business to make sure you are actually shipping what you claim to be shipping (instead of shipping bombs).

Thanks for all the info guys. It was helpful. I am well versed in the care and keeping mof fish, but not so much in bussiness. Could anyone tell me if pirahna are illegal in NC? I brought them with me when I moved from the city.

its not all fun & games as a home base, thats why I end up back into full time retail. Zoning & red tape craps. Can not always have a semi or shipments coming & going out your door unless your in the boonies? Or the neighbors are cool? I would come home from work after doing service calls & working part time a police dept. & the phone would be ringing at 9-10pm or early in the am for fish & stuff. Also would have some waiting in my drive wanting to see what I had in fish for sale. UGH got old after awhile.
Do it as a hobby first & do some tank service for awhile & if you want to dive in head first & take the plunge into a seven day a week with not enough hours in a day. When you are dealing with livestock there is no break or you can lose your ass.
Came in this am & one of the guys overflowed a feeder tank & left me a mess! Lids open on some tanks inlcluding the Tigrinis cat!, radio left one! Not so happy this am. Thats when things get crazy is when you have to rely on someone else to do some of your work. A lot to it, do your home work first.

good luck
