just decided to grab a 3 gallon and start an iwagumi tank with HC! heard emersed growth is much easier, so I'm starting it off emersed with a really low water level (there is a slight water level in some areas and some areas are just really moist is that okay?)

The HC i got was rescued from my LFS for 10 bucks (3 HORRIBLE pots) that were falling apart. I dont know if they will survive, but i will take the chance. I ordered more anyways.

The substrate is black sand with Florabase, and the lighting is

one of these.
25w macro-glo with 6400k Daylight
The way you can posistion it around is pretty neat.

I put saran wrap over the tank and poked a few holes (is this necessary?) to do a sort of green-house effect and keep moisture in. rocks were just random ones i found and washed :d (i was too cheap)

Tips por favor? :D

That is a great looking tank where did you buy it?

Also Good Luck, keep us posted!

thanks! glad to know i'm doing things right for once! haha! this tank is a 3 gallon picotope. came with a 9w LED light / filter for 40 bucks at my LFS!

Thanks I will definitely get one and start a nano like yours. Thanks for the inspiration.

Nice. I've started one myself just a few days ago:)

It looks pretty good. The rocks are a little big IMO, they just seem like they will overpower the tank size. The one on the front left is the one that is the most distracting. This may change though if the HC grows in nice and full. It may hide the edges of the front left rock, and make is fit better with the others. All in all, a great start.
